A self-taught path

I speak Vietnamese and English, and I taught myself what I know about software from the internet. Most of my learning starts with something I want to build and a gap in what I know.

I still go to university, though I find it hard to justify what I get out of it. A lot of the material feels outdated, and very little has helped with my projects. For me, it often feels like a scam. I have learned much more by studying online and trying things myself.

Working across borders

I have worked remotely as a freelancer for more than ten international clients. Having someone else depend on the result has given me a different perspective on the things I build. The work needs to solve their problem, even when that problem is less interesting than the technology I want to try.

English is part of my everyday workflow. I write my AI prompts in English, read documentation in English, and use it for work communication. It is also how I learn from people outside Vietnam and work with clients abroad.

AI-driven, with engineering ownership

In 2026, roughly 99% of the code I produce is AI-generated. I am comfortable being open about that.

I use AI heavily, and I take responsibility for what I build with it. I still need to understand the problem and the code, make the architecture decisions, and judge whether the pieces work together. Getting a model to generate something is only part of that process.

I care about being able to explain how a project works and why I made its decisions. The amount of code I type by hand matters much less to me.

Systems over language loyalty

Picking a main programming language does not interest me much anymore. I will use the language that fits the project.

I spend more time learning system design, scalable architectures, and DevOps. I want to understand how a system fits together, how to deploy and operate it, and what needs to change when its demands grow.

I have put these concepts to work in real projects. Being able to use what I learn matters to me, especially after spending so much time on coursework that has felt disconnected from building anything.
